Why I am here
I am a student with a great appreciation and love of music. I have been playing guitar for 8 years now and have been working on an album for the past year and a half. I would love to make music or record for a living, but I'm trying to keep things in perspective - it's not so easy to get into the music business.
A few months ago I came upon a few substantial obstacles. I am aspiring to record a top quality, near-professional album in my home studio, but I don't feel my current setup will take me all the way. With the standards of production growing everyday, there's a pressure to keep up with everyone, otherwise it's not very likely you will stand out. Unfortunately, I cannot afford the expensive, top-notch equipment without using my student loan - something I don't want to do - so I am trying to find a way to fund my music.
Recently I tried to find an offline job and failed. Here in the UK it seems there's little or no jobs available for most unemployed people, what to speak of students only looking for summer or part-time work. Furthermore, I've tried to make money online before, but I have not been very successful This has resulted in my interest in online money making fluctuating. This time round, however, I feel more confident that I can get somewhere. People's stories of success on here and elsewhere fill me with hope; Hubpages seems like an amazing opportunity.
With a bit of luck, I am hoping I can make enough money in a year to pay for better equipment. £3,000-£6000 would be a nice sum of money and would most likely cover all my expenses. It might sound a lot, but an investment can last decades if you choose good, solid equipment. Basically, I am aiming to get a really good guitar, amp, a few microphones and maybe a better computer. Along the way I am hoping to share with you my progress and any tips and tricks I learn.
My Hubpages Challenge
My short-term challenge is to write an article a day until the end of September and see what happens.

This page is going to get seriously updated on a regular basis. I just wanted to get a post done as quickly as possible so I at least feel like I've done something!
Diary
18-08-10: I submitted an article I wrote a while ago about How to Choose a Computer for your Home Recording Studio. I remembered that I had posted it on EzineArticles a while back and have decided to delete it and move it to here. Unfortunately Hubpages thinks that I have copied it. Since it's no longer anywhere else I hope this issue will be resolved soon.
24-09-10: I've been slowed down by university exams, but I'm getting back on track again, I think. I've gone against my short-term goal. Unfortunately, I've only managed 2 articles so far. I'm thinking that I might have to lower my long-term goal to around £1500-£2000. I'm hoping that I'll manage to get something done everyday from now on. Today I uploaded my thoughts on music called Music and Its Power.
25-09-10: I've posted articles entitled What is a Smartphone? and How to Approach Learning Guitar. I have also opened a blog called My MMO Challenge on which I will document my progress. I'm hoping that I can at least wriite at article a day from now on.
26-09-10: I've posted a guitar lesson for beginners called Free Guitar Lesson - Introduction to Guitar. I've decided to write about something that keeps my attention. I'm starting to do more reading about SEO, keywords, getting traffic etc.
29-09-10: I wrote an article called The Best Sources of Free Music. I'm hoping to keep writing articles fairly regularly, in spite of going back to university and being busy.

How are you doing with your challenge? It's always a wise step to have a goal. I was involved with the 60 Day challenge here a few months back and it was great for my earnings. Good luck!
